Brunnen won Communication of the Year award at the Finnish Comms Awards
What an evening, and what a success! Brunnen and the Finnish Water Utilities Association (Vesilaitosyhdistys) took home the Communication of the Year award at the Finnish Comms Awards 2025. The partnership was also awarded in the Public Affairs and Advocacy Communication category.
The Communication of the Year award honours strategic communication that the entire industry can be proud of. Representing the very best of agency expertise and collaboration. This is truly an achievement to celebrate!
The Public Affairs and Advocacy category, in turn, recognises communication that has built trust among decision-makers. In addition, communication was successfully used to align the client’s goals with the public agenda resulting in meaningful change or preventing a harmful one.
Our recognised partnership, Public Affairs Exposed Finland’s Hidden Water Crisis, brought national attention to the critical state of Finland’s water infrastructure and directly influenced the reform of the Water Services Act.
The goal was to ensure that people in Finland can continue to enjoy clean and safe water – not burst pipes, waterborne epidemics or bottled water. Through strategic communication and dialogue, decision-makers across the country came to understand that the operational resilience of water utilities cannot be taken for granted.
By engaging with Members of Parliament, municipal decision-makers and the media, the issue was brought into public focus. At the same time our client grew into a strong and respected voice in national debate. As a result of our collaboration, the reformed Water Services Act – including the provisions advocated by our client – is going to be approved by Parliament.
